Comet Hunting

July 14, 2020 by sbohaty

I’m really excited about the first major comet (NEOWISE C/2020 F3) visible to the Northern Hemisphere since Hale-Bopp in 1997. It’s the first really nice comet since I’ve gotten into photography. In 2015 I was able to get an image of comet Lovejoy C/2014 Q2, but that was just a bit of green with barely visible tail, and that was through a telescope.

NEOWISE is visible to the unaided eye with a spectacular tail. I’m hoping to get more images as it makes its way across the night sky on it’s way back out to deep space.
